Congratulations to Azra Sumar who successfully recredentialed with the College recently! She demonstrated that she continues to be among the leading pharmacists in mental health in this country.

Azra Sumar is Lead Pharmacist for Non-Medical Prescribing at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. She was a CMHP Council member from 2014-2020.

The assessor of Azra's portfolio congratulated her on her great work, including running NMP clinics in the CMHT and GP surgery, and winning funding from NHS digital to develop the PINMED app.

We asked Azra what she finds most rewarding in her role. She said: “It is incredibly rewarding to use my expertise as a mental health pharmacist to help service users on their recovery journeys. It's truly a privilege for the opportunity to make a difference for a population which faces significant stigma.”

When asked what being credentialed by the college meant to her, she added: “It is an absolute honour to have the MCMHP- credentialled status. It not only gives me the kudos to call myself a “specialist mental health pharmacist” but also raises the profile of the profession with other healthcare professionals and general public.”

Our credentialed members go through recredentialing every five years. Credentialed members are full members of the College and can carry the post-nominals MCMHP.
