Recredentialing success

Three of our members have successfully demonstrated their continuing expertise in mental health pharmacy.

John Lawton, Kate Masters and Steve Buckley have all recredentialed with the College over recent months, having presented evidence of their professional development and expert practice.

John Lawton is Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager (Nottingham) and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He is positive about his role saying: “I find it rewarding that on a daily basis we continue to make a real positive difference to patient care."

As a Research and Development Pharmacist, Kate Masters’ work at Prospect Park is different from many clinical pharmacy roles. She says: “I enjoy the variety in my role, working within the Trust research team as well as with the Pharmacy Practice Unit at the University of Reading, promoting and facilitating research and evaluation into medicines usage in mental illness.”

Steve Buckley is Senior Clinical Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, and serves on CMHP Council. He says he is “passionate about progessing clinical pharmacy within the speciality of mental health”. He also takes a keen interest in leadership and service improvement.

All three were congratulated on the quality of their work by the then Assistant Registrar Jonathan Cavan who said: “It was great to see the quality of work being done by these three pharmacists. It was a privelege to review their submissions and it was my pleasure to confirm that their applications for recredentialing were successful.“

Credentialing is our process for assessing members' knowledge and experience; it demonstrates that they are experts in the field of mental health pharmacy. Credentialed members are full members of the College and can carry the post-nominals MCMHP. Credentialed members are invited to recredential every five years.

For more information about credentialing with the College please see the Credentialing web pages.

Note:

Jonathan Cavan was Assistant Registrar during the period John, Kate and Steve recredentialed. He has since handed over the portfolio of Assistant Registrar to new Council member Roz Gittins.
