CMHP Fellows 2023

CMHP is delighted to announce that Paul Hardy and Jules Haste have been appointed Fellows of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.

Paul Hardy

Paul Hardy retired around three years ago but continues to work part-time for the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Paul's experience as a mental health pharmacist spans more than 20 years. During this time he has been long-standing member of the CMHP and a credentialed CMHP member since March 2014.

Paul previously worked in a national advisory role at NHSE, working alongside the national mental health chief pharmacist advisor. In this role, he used his expertise to help improve patient safety and provide the opportunity to share learning amongst mental health pharmacy colleagues.

The nomination for Paul’s Fellowship said:

“When he eventually hangs up his pharmacist boots, he will without doubt be truly missed by many people, most of all, the patients and carers who have benefited from his care. There is no doubt he has demonstrated that he is an outstanding mental health pharmacist.”

Jules Haste

Jules Haste is the Associate Divisional Director of Pharmacy (West Sussex) for the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

She has worked in the field of mental health since 1998. She is a long-standing member of the CMHP and a credentialed member since March 2011. Jules has also served on the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU) Executive committee over a number of years.

Jules has made an outstanding contribution to the education of mental health pharmacists and others - both in her own organisation and nationally. She has contributed to the development training programmes such as the Rapid tranquillisation of acutely disturbed patients training module for the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She supported the CPPE e-learning Introduction to Mental Health Therapeutics course.

More recently, Jules developed a brand new training programme about rapid tranquilisation for any healthcare professionals who are interested in this area. This was developed as a collaboration between NAPICU and the CMHP - conceived, shaped and delivered by Jules.

The nomination for Jules’ Fellowship said:

“Jules is a passionate clinical pharmacist who clearly and consistently puts the interest of her patients and their needs first in all aspects of her practice. She always takes a collaborative approach to her work, aiming for the good work to be shared and made available as widely as possible so that as many patients as possible can benefit. This can be seen through her generous input and contributions on the CMHP email group, or her ready sharing of the numerous guidelines and policies which she has written within her organisation.”

Certificate presentation

The announcement was made at CMHP Annual Conference. CMHP President Roz Gittins spoke highly of the new Fellows and warmly congratulated them. She presented Paul Hardy with his certificate.

Unfortunately Jules was unavailable to attend the conference awards dinner. We thank Chris Dzikiti for presenting Jules with her certificate at a recent NAPICU meeting.
