Recredentialling success – Stephen Guy

Congratulations to Stephen Guy, who has successfully recredentialled with CMHP.

Stephen is the Lead Mental Health Pharmacist at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. He has made a significant contribution to CMHP and to the field of mental health pharmacy over the years. He is a past president of the College and he was made a Fellow of CMHP in 2012.

CMHP Registrar Ciara Ni Dhubhlaing said:

The evidence Stephen submitted showed that he continues to be one of the leading pharmacists in mental health in this country. His work to develop guidance on identification and management of clozapine-related clinical issues for use in non-specialist mental health settings and his commitment to training and continuous learning across a broad range of specialties is most impressive."

Stephen was invited to comment on his work, and on what it means to be credentialled. He said:

I find mental health pharmacy a very rewarding area in which to practice pharmacy. There are real opportunities to improve outcomes for people with mental illness by ensuring optimal use of medicines.  Accreditation with the College gives me confidence that I am practicing safely and it gives me personal satisfaction to have recognition of my work by my peers."

Credentialling is the process where members are recognised for their expert level of working. Credentialled members are required to re-credential every five years to demonstrate that they are continuing to develop and apply their expertise.
