Conference 2019 – final preparations

Our CMHP Conference team looks forward to welcoming delegates to our 10th Annual International CMHP Psychiatric Pharmacy Conference which takes place from Friday 11th October to Sunday 13th October 2019 at Imago, Loughborough.

Planning for the conference runs throughout the year, with the CMHP Council choosing the first topics and themes in their November meeting.  They examine feedback from delegates and members, as well as considering what is hot from a strategic and service delivery perspective.

This year they have selected the theme Creating Alignment & Alliances for the plenary session on Friday at this year’s conference.

As organiser Matthew Elswood says: "We all know that we need to work with others to amplify our voice. If the CMHP is to punch above its weight and shape the way that medicines and pharmacy feature in the future NHS, surely alignment and alliances will be crucial, right?"

Louise Forsyth and Danielle Hamm from Rethink Mental Illness (https://www.rethink.org/) will talk about how they worked with a range of partners to influence the content of the NHS Long Term Plan; and how they will work with parliamentarians to hold the NHS to account for delivering the benefits to people with mental health problems.

This year, workshops will run on both Friday and Saturday afternoons. This is in response to feedback from last year's conference delegates who clearly wanted more access to the workshop sessions on offer. Topics this year include:

  • Pain & Opiate Prescribing
  • Asthma & COPD
  • Resilience
  • Influencing People

With other great speakers lined up, the inspirational memorial lecture, lively poster sessions, and other opportunities for sharing of best practice, the programme offers something for everyone.

If you haven’t yet booked your place at the Conference, now is a great time to sign up; not just for the educational content but also to network with others. To register and to view the full programme, please visit our 2019 conference website.
