The College of Mental Health Pharmacy warmly welcomes the launch of the Royal College of Pharmacy, marking a historic milestone for the pharmacy professions and a new era for professional leadership across the UK.
The establishment of the Royal College represents the culmination of sustained collaboration across pharmacy professional leadership bodies and specialist groups, creating the foundations for a more inclusive, collaborative and ambitious professional home for pharmacy.
Commenting on the announcement, Nicola Greenhalgh, President of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy, said:
“The College of Mental Health Pharmacy warmly welcomes the inauguration of the Royal College of Pharmacy and would like to offer our congratulations to all of those whose drive and effort has been instrumental in getting this over the line. This historic moment strengthens professional leadership at a time when pharmacy’s role in all areas of care, including mental health, has never been more critical.”
She also highlighted the opportunity ahead for closer partnership working across the profession:
“As the Royal College of Pharmacy evolves, there is a vital opportunity to work together, share expertise and ensure mental health pharmacy, as well as pharmacy as a whole, is visible, valued and influential.”
Mental health pharmacists play a crucial role in improving outcomes for people using mental health services, advancing medicines optimisation, supporting the workforce and contributing to research and innovation. CMHP looks forward to working collaboratively across the profession to advance professional standards, strengthen leadership and improve outcomes for patients, the public and our colleagues.
CMHP congratulates all those involved in achieving this significant milestone and welcomes the opportunity to continue shaping the future of pharmacy professional leadership together.
